How much does a maths tutor cost in Edinburgh?
Home maths tuition in Edinburgh costs £50 per hour. Online maths tuition is £45 per hour.
Advanced Higher, GCSE, A Level and college or university maths tuition costs £55 per hour and is provided online.
All prices include VAT.
Will my child get the same maths tutor every week?
Yes.
Students work with the same tutor each week so the tutor gets to know how they learn, what they have already covered and where they need more support.
If the first tutor is not the right match, the next session with a different tutor is free.
Are Educamus maths tutors PVG checked?
Yes. Educamus tutors are vetted and PVG compliant under Scotland’s Protecting Vulnerable Groups scheme.
Our tutor network includes qualified teachers, professional tutors and strong university students. We also work with Glasgow University Rocketry, which has helped us bring additional STEM tutors into the network.
Which maths levels do you cover in Edinburgh?
We provide tuition for Primary Maths, S1 to S3 Broad General Education, National 4, National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher Maths, as well as Applications of Maths and Numeracy.
GCSE Maths, A Level Maths and some college and university maths tuition are also available online.
Is home tuition or online maths tuition better?
It depends on the student.
Some students prefer having a tutor sitting beside them at home. Others are completely comfortable working online.
Online tuition also gives us a wider pool of tutors to choose from, which can be particularly useful for Higher, Advanced Higher and specialist subjects.
Your course consultant can talk through both options before you decide.
How quickly will we hear back after a consultation request?
Within 24 hours.
A course consultant will contact you to discuss the student’s level, what they need help with and what you would like tuition to achieve.
The consultation is free and there is nothing to pay until you decide to book a session.
How many hours of maths tuition does my child need?
Most students begin with one hour each week.
Some increase this around prelims or final exams, while others continue with a single weekly session.
We can recommend an approach once we understand the student’s level, goals and timescale.
Can you help a student who is already getting good maths grades?
Yes.
Not every student comes to Educamus because they are struggling. We also work with students who are already doing well and want to move up a grade, prepare for an exam or step up to a more advanced level.
Melissa, for example, was already passing Higher Maths and moved from a B to an A.
What happens if we have to cancel a maths session?
Give us as much notice as possible and we will try to move the session to another date at no extra cost.
Sessions cancelled within 24 hours of the start time may still be charged.
Where a refund is due, it will normally be processed within three working days.
